How to get GNU Radio up and running (the easy way)

This howto explains how to get GNU Radio up und running without installing, compiling, fiddling with OS stuff etc.

Requirements

Tasks

  • Get the latest version of Pentoo Linux from http://pentoo.ch/download/
  • Burn the .iso on a DVD or install it to USB stick and make it bootable
  • Boot your computer from the DVD or USB stick (this will take some time…)
  • When you reach the shell prompt, connect rad1o (which must be turned on) to your computer
  • hackrf_info should show that rad1o is detected (some text like Found HackRF board)
  • click 'create page'
  • copy the source of this page into the new page.
  • change the first headline to HOWTO $NAME
  • fill the sections Requirements, Tasks, and Result with the description of $STEPS.
  • click Preview and, if your are satisfied, Save
  • edit howto: to include your new howto and link generously to and from it on related howtos and other pages.

Result

  • A working GNU Radio :-)
